2007 Honda Fit Sport Road Test

9-24-2007

by Michel Deslauriers , Auto123.com

Price-wise, where does the Fit fit in this group? Well, it costs $20,880. Apart from the Versa which is better-equipped, the Fit is the most expensive. And that's a lot of money for a subcompact.

For that price, we can buy a Civic DX-G sedan that's bigger, more powerful, more refined, but a little less frugal. Also, interest rates are currently lower for the Civic. Realizing this, the Fit Sport suddenly becomes less interesting, even with Honda Canada's $1,000 rebate.

The secret of its success: it is cute and fun to drive.

Conclusion

Unless you're scared to be perceived as a poor person because you're driving a subcompact, they've got a lot to offer. The Fit is comfortable, cute, very spacious and very fuel-efficient.

However, if you're smitten by the Sport version of the Fit, be prepared to pay the price of a compact. That's why the $2,000-plus cheaper LX model is, in my opinion, a much better choice.

Cute looks with the skirt package
Surprising interior space
Very low fuel consumption

Air conditioning works hard when it's hot outside
