A fully independent suspension aids in a comfortable ride--rough pavement and bumps aren't transmitted to the cabin's occupants. The steering is nicely weighted--the wheel itself is substantial and covered with grippy leather. Braking is very good and ABS and traction control are standard.

All Grand Vitaras minimally include an MP3/CD stereo with steering-wheel mounted controls.

Base models ($25,495) boast an extensive list of features: automatic climate control, cruise control, remote keyless entry, power accessories and MP3/CD stereo with steering-wheel controls.

As you go up through the trim levels, you can add features like alloy wheels, a six-disc CD changer, privacy glass, a roof rack and the SmartPass keyless start system. Top of the line JLX Luxury models ($30,495) add 17-inch alloy wheels, moonroof, leather seating, heated front seats and wood grain trim.
