2008 Audi Q7 3.6 Premium Review

7-20-2008

Access to the first two rows of seats poses no problem, although the step is relatively high. To get to the third row, however, you have to be a child or have a background in gymnastics. But first, you must apply yourself to fold the second-row buckets, which ain't easy. I don't understand why the Q7 even bothers offering seven-passenger capability when it's truly designed to accommodate five. Audi is not alone; other manufacturers are doing the same mistake. Consequently, rear passenger room and cargo room are compromised. Think about it: how often exactly do you have to carry more than five people to go to the restaurant or the pool?

I don't understand why the Q7 even bothers offering seven-passenger capability.

That being said, I have only good words for the three-panel panoramic sunroof with retractable sunshade (optional). All my passengers liked it, no matter where they were sitting.

Ergonomic driving
Those fortunate enough to sit behind the wheel enjoy a good driving position, a comprehensive, easy-to-read instrument panel as well as a multimedia interface that's now more user-friendly. Adjusting the climate settings and driving parameters is a breeze. Audio and cruise control buttons are also found on the steering wheel. My wife found the Q7 easy to drive and quite convenient for running errands.

On the road, the suspension offers surprising stability and comfort. The 275/45R20 tires included in the S Line package are greatly responsible; they do a much better job of soaking up bumps and potholes than the low-profile tires of most high-performance SUVs. I was amazed by the vehicle's ability to keep its poise and maintain a perfect line through series of sharp turns.
