2008 Audi R8 First Impressions

2-23-2007

Sticky
In the city, the R8 is very smooth and easy to steer. On the highway, the engine only whispers, keeping the cockpit ultra quiet. The car can easily reach a 200-kph speed. On byroads, the R8 gives it all for the driver. It literally sticks to the tarmac. The rear end will slightly skid in a tight turn, but the massive 18-inch tires maintain the car in constant contact with the road. The R8 is lightning-fast and delivers confident braking. You won't find too many cars that are as much exciting and satisfying as this Audi. The eight Canadian journalists on hand in Las Vegas were unanimously delighted by its road manners. The R8 does everything very well, both inside and outside the city.

A track-ready sports tourer.

A new icon is born
The R8 should sell at a price of about $140,000 while offering ultra high levels of amenity. It joins the other great sports cars on the planet and marks the return of Audi among "dream car" manufacturers. The R8 remains somewhat affordable considering its price, liveability, performance and handling. Welcome to the world of supercars.
