2008 Audi RS 4 Review

6-11-2008

by Bertrand Godin , Auto123.com

Some cars scream performance just by their looks. I can't help but think about machines like Ferraris, Porsches and other seemingly unattainable exotic cars which grace the garage floor of rich collectors while making enthusiasts everywhere drool with excitement.

This car has a big surprise in store for the driver once he or she hammers the throttle.

Not quite as spectacular but still very sharp, the 2008 Audi RS4 is a true ace in an impressive deck of cards. This car has a big surprise in store for the driver once he or she hammers the throttle. Like Superman in a suit and tie, this sportstar subtly hides its muscles... until the time comes to rip off its shirt!

Overall, the RS4 looks like just about any other A4 sedan. Of course, there are a couple of unique styling cues that set it apart from lower models, such as the numerous brushed aluminum accents and RS logos inside and out. But if the design is basically the same, what on Earth could justify the base MSRP of $94,200?

Well, everything else.

Driver-car communion
This world-class performance toy obviously includes all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from Audi: a 10-speaker BOSE audio system, a plethora of controls and switches as well as unparalleled fit and finish. The race-style Recaro sports seats are firm and generously bolstered, holding your body perfectly in check during sharp cornering maneuvers. They really make the driver feel safe and comfortable behind the wheel, even over long distances. Plus, they allow you to find the perfect driving position. Meanwhile, the tilt/telescopic steering wheel literally becomes the extension of your arms.
