2008 Audi TT Roadster 3.2 quattro Review

8-28-2008

by Luc Gagné , Auto123.com

On a different note, the roadster satisfactorily passed the car wash test during our preparations for the photo shoot. Only the high-pressure side jets managed to squeeze a few drops into the passenger compartment.

Now that's a trunk!
The TT 3.2 is more than just a pretty face, it's got a real trunk too! Contrary to a convertible with a retractable hard top like the Mercdes-Benz SLK, the useful volume of the trunk isn't amputated by the retracting top. In the case of the SLK, folding the top into the trunk results in a loss of useful volume of around 30%. And it's even worse with the Volvo C70! In fact, the TT has the biggest trunk of all the roadsters on the market. So you can pack more that your toothbrush and bathing suit on those road trips.

The Audi TT boasts the largest trunk of all the roadsters currently on the market.

The passenger compartment is also very spacious. Those who find the S2000 or the MX-5 a little narrow will appreciate the difference. Climbing in does however require some flexibility and high stepping due to the chassis' configuration. To make up for this, the bottom of the steering wheel has been flattened out to make extra legroom. Also, the chassis is so rigid that we can't discard this complication common to many sports cars.

If I won the lottery, I would buy a roadster TT today! For my dream to become reality, all I'd need is a plane ticket and a TT waiting for me on that beckoning British island.
