Handling and RideA front-drive coupe with a 3.8-litre engine jammed ahead of the wheels is never the best route to go for handling. The Eagle RSA tires hold on well in all but the tightest corners, but powering out too eagerly in second gear will ignite the front tires in a jiffy. There's adequate cornering grip available, but you'll need to watch your throttle application when it comes time to leave. On straight roads, Eclipse commendably absorbs most every bump and heave with little fuss. It could definitely get away with riding a lot worse. | As an exercise in styling uniqueness, muscular power and a nostalgic presence, Mitsubishi nailed this car down. |
Highway trips average mileage around 9.5 L/100 km, with heavy-footed city driving pushing that figure as high as 15 L/100 km. Your pick?As an exercise in styling uniqueness, muscular power and a nostalgic presence, Mitsubishi nailed this car down. Ergonomics aren't perfect and the handling won't blow away any WRXs or 1-Series', but the gawk-factor, monster stereo and wicked engine should do the trick for most boy-racer and girl-racer types.
