2010 Chevrolet Equinox Preview

6-30-2009

by Robert Obara , Auto123.com

All-wheel-drive is optional on the four-cylinder Equinox and standard on the V6 model. This electronically controlled Haldex drive system features a limited-slip rear differential. 7.8 inches of ground clearance and standard electronic stability control will help this machine trek through winter. When equipped with the remote starting system, the Equinox can also turn on the heater and optional heated seats when the air temperature warrants it.

Fresh exterior styling wraps a body which has basic dimensions within one inch of the outgoing 2009 Equinox.

Inside, the 2010 Equinox remains a 5-passenger vehicle. Cargo capacity is good, but down slightly from 2009. The cabin's front area has been revised significantly and is highlighted by blue ambient lighting. There's a useful laptop-sized storage bin under the centre armrest. Optional extras include a 7-inch touch-screen navigation system, Bluetooth phone connectivity, power rear liftgate, rear-view camera (displayed within the rear-view mirror or on the navigation screen), dual-screen rear entertainment system, USB audio connectivity, internal music hard drive, and an 8-speaker 250-watt sound system.

Available this summer, the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox is neither a track-star nor a rugged off-road beast. It is, however, fit for the Canadian market. The Equinox is manufactured in Ingersoll, Ontario.
