On the trail
Built on the latest version of the excellent REV-X chassis, the MX Z X represents Ski-Doo’s high-end trail sled, with sporty ergonomics and suspension designed for efficient riding over the widest range of winding, bumpy trails. The “Sport” calibration of the suspension remains comfortable enough for tracks strewn with small bumps and proves particularly competent in corners and over jumps.

There certainly is plenty of ground clearance, to better absorb bumps at speed as well as provide a smoother ride at civvy pace.

The 3.2cm spiked RipSaw track offers without a doubt the best grip in the industry over mechanically surfaced trails, although it does induce slight understeer on an overly compacted base of hard snow. In such circumstances, it is best to properly adjust springs and shocks to add weight and “bite” at the front, and thus restore the ability of the machine to change direction quickly. Once properly adjusted, the MX Z X responds to the rider’s steering input and becomes more enjoyable on winding trails, demonstrating the same abilities as a racing sled thanks both to its efficient skis and its low, low weight, which at 194kg is 18 tp 40 kg lighter than its competitors.
Smoother but just as potent as the 800R Power Tek it replaces, the new 800 E-TEC offers high-calibre performance, impeccable responsiveness and improved efficiency, thanks to smoother torque and power delivery, lower fuel consumption and reduced pollution. Some extreme thrill seekers may be dismayed by the engine’s lack of bestiality or quiet nature; in reality, the new engine outperforms the old carburetted one in every aspect of daily use.
The future of the two-stroke
Owners who like to take it easy will absolutely love the smoothness of the new 800R E-TEC engine and its linear power delivery, while everyone will notice a marked reduction in oil smell as well as fuel and oil consumption.
Ski-Doo is once again ahead of the competition in the two-stroke engine game. With its E-TEC technology, BRP clearly demonstrates its desire to save the two-stroke engine at all costs for its active riders.

What looks right is right, as we can see on this attractive Snocross-oriented machine.
