In front of more than 45,000 fans, AMA Supercross current champion Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) earned his first win of the season at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada while
Chad Reed (Honda) took over the lead in the championship.
As the gates dropped on the 20-lap Supercross class main event, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Fabien Izoird took the holeshot and grabbed the early lead. Behind him, Dungey and Nick Wey (Yamaha) followed while, once again, James Stewart (Yamaha) found himself on the ground.
Dungey was back in the lead prior to the completion of the first lap and went on to lead all 20 laps.
Dungey fended off the pressure of Chad Reed (Honda) throughout the Class 450 main event while
Trey Canard (Honda) followed onto the podium in third.
Stewart rebounded from his troubles to finish just off the podium in fourth while Villopoto recorded a ninth-place result.
With this other podium finish, Reed now holds a 3-point lead over Villopoto heading into next weekend’s race in Arlington.
