Great news: Bike sales up so far in 2010 in Quebec

4-2-2010

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

This just in from BMW Motorrad Canada:

BMW Motorrad reports best March on record
BMW Motorrad Canada achieved an all time March record with 200 units retailed, an increase of 19% over the same period in 2009. BMW Motorrad YTD retails of 324 units reflect an increase of 37% over last year.

For this premier brand, this great news means that sales are doing better than last year across Canada, with an exceptional month of March.

I just had to check out how things are going in La belle Province, where we love our bike. A quick Good-Friday survey of large Montreal-area dealers showed good news in a similar vein, with March sales up by 20% for most popular brands and even better for more exclusive products from BMW and Triumph.

This excellent news must be tempered by a few factors, such as low pricing to clear out non-current machines, pent-up demand and acceptance of high insurance costs in Quebec, and great March weather.

One Sales Manager at a large multi line dealer put things in perspective: “We got April in March this year because of the weather. I just hope that we will have true growth this year, not just an earlier start to an ordinary season.”

After a very tough two years, better times may be here!
