According to reports in the Italian press, testing in preparation for the return of the 1000cc bikes in MotoGP 2012 are set to get underway as early as July with a proposed test outing at Mugello.
The test will be open to all contracted MotoGP riders and will be design to give them the chance to sample the 1000cc engines before they are re-introduced for the 2012 season.
Plans are being put forward to amend the current strict 'in-season' testing regulations to allow for an additional session to be held after the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello in July.
A second test at Brno is also likely to be scheduled in, teams likely to be more open an additional 1000cc test, rather than continuing to develop the outgoing 800cc models for just a few more races.
