Lotus Engineering unveiled a very ingenious creation based on its latest research work at the 78^th Geneva Motor Show. The Lotus Exige 270E Tri-fuel is the most powerful road version yet of the Exige. It runs on any mixture of gasoline, bioethanol and methanol.


But here's the most interesting part: the automaker's advanced technologies allow alcohol-based fuels such as methanol to be made synthetically from CO₂ and hydrogen extracted from the atmosphere. The Exige 270E Tri-fuel is not only a green car but also, ultimately, a 100-percent environmentally-neutral vehicle that runs on the traffic's CO₂ emissions.

The 270-hp Exige 270E Tri-fuel can deliver outstanding performances: 0-60 mph in 3.88 seconds and a top speed of 158 mph (255 kph). According to the latest projections, the technology will be available for introduction in four to five years. The only problem is that the supply infrastructure investment from governments and fuel companies could take 15 to 20 years.
