Burning rubber just got a whole lot nicer smelling

It's one of the most manly smells out there- the smell of tires being melted into billowing clouds of smoke courtesy of a high performance engine.

Trouble is, apparently most women don't particularly enjoy the scent- so tire manufacturer Kumho has made available their new line of Ecsta DX rubber, the worlds first "aroma tire". According to Kumho, it's built for sedans like the Accord, Camry, Legacy and Sebring.

In favor of the traditional black rubber smell, the new Ecsta DX tire utilizes heat-resistant oils which are available in the buyers choice of orange, jasmine or lavender. But it's not all smell and no performance for the DX tires, as they're designed to run very quietly while boasting excellent water-evacuating properties. The smell lasts about one year, but is most noticeable just after driving when the tires are warm.

Smelly tires are weird enough, but they aren't the first sort of unconventional tire to cause a buzz. Kumho also has a tire which creates colored smoke when burned- ideal for drifters or anyone wanting that little bit of extra attention. You'll be sure to surprise your buddies by doing a bright-red smoke-show just before being ticked by your local police department.

There are also BF Goodrich Scorcher TA Tires which are available with a set of colored tread stripes to accent the color of your ride. Although they don't smoke in colors, they do leave a black and colored patch behind after a burnout.

Kumho's lavender scented tires make an excellent mothers day gift and are on sale now.
