In the second DTM test on Friday afternoon held in Zandvoort, Timo Scheider stepped up once more and improved his time from the morning session by more than a quarter of a second. With a lap time of 1.33.909 minutes, the German set the fastest time of the day in the second test at the 4.307 kilometres long circuit.

Timo Scheider, Audi A4
Martin Tomczyk and Mattias Ekström followed in second and third place respectively while Oliver Jarvis was the best-placed driver with a year-old car in fourth place, just like in the first test.

Eight Audis among the top ten, only Gary Paffett with the 2007-spec AMG Mercedes C-Class was able to break the Audi group in front in fifth place. The Brit was 0.383 seconds down. Mike Rockenfeller, Tom Kristensen, Christijan Albers and Alexandre Prémat occupied sixth through ninth place. Fastest driver with a current AMG Mercedes C-Class was Paul di Resta in tenth place. After 90 minutes, the Scot was 0.606 seconds down on the fastest time.

At first sight, the result may look quite clear, but many Mercedes-Benz drivers concentrated on long runs in the second 90 minutes' test in preparation for the race. With 41 laps, Bernd Schneider covered a distance of 176.587 kilometres, three laps more than in the race on Sunday. Equally avid as Schneider were Jamie Green (11th place) and Mathias Lauda (18th place), who racked up 40 laps.

At the end of the main straight, local hero Albers reached the highest top speed by far with 264 kph. His teammate Katherine Legge was only a little bit slower at 261 kph, the British lady racer achieved a respectable result with 15th place in the second test.
