12-17-2009

by R Fagnan

Our contributors from the WRI2 photo agency in Europe had the unique opportunity to visit the Aerolab facilities in Italy and take some photography of what will be the new Lotus Formula 1 car.

Aerolab, was founded in 2003 by the joint venture between FondTech and Dallara Automobili, and it is completely committed to the aerodynamic development of racing cars in the different categories of automobile competition.

The core of the company, with its headquarters located in Sant'Agata Bolognese, is composed of a multidisciplinary staff of professionals that are highly specialized in the automobile industry, specifically in aerodynamics, and motorsport.

Aerolab conceives unique customized programs to develop the aerodynamics of racing cars. This development is achieved through scale models that are tested in Aerolab’s wind tunnel, a high tech facility that covers an area of 1100m².

Aerolab works not only for the Lotus F1 Racing team, but also for Peugeot Sport (Le Mans-winning 908), Dallara (IRL race car), HWA Mercedes (DTM Class-C Mercedes) and Epsilon Euskadi (Le Mans Series endurance car).

Here are some images of the 50% model of the new Lotus F1 racer being tested in the Aerolab wind tunnel.
