F1: Geoff Willis already considers quitting HRT

Geoff Willis' time at the struggling new HRT team may be coming to a short-lived end.

The formerly high-profile Williams, McLaren and Honda technical boss, who mysteriously left Red Bull last year, started working with the Campos/Hispania project only a few months ago.

But he has now given an exclusive interview to Germany's motorsport-total.com in which he admits he is "disappointed" with the Dallara-built F110 car.

The Briton said part of the reason for the car's shortcomings was the stop-start nature of its design programme, amid the team's pre-season struggle for survival.

But Geoff Willis says the basic "technology" of the Cosworth powered car does not "comply with modern F1 standards".

Another problem is that Dallara is in charge of the F110's technical blueprints and data, making substantial changes problematic for Willis.

"I have to consider whether it's interesting for me to stay with a team whose car is going to drive around at the back of the field," he admitted.

Geoff Willis, 50, said he will make a decision about his future around the time of the forthcoming Chinese GP.

More optimistic is the team's rookie Indian driver, Karun Chandhok. "I wouldn't have signed with Colin (Kolles) and the team if I didn't think there was potential to at least fight with the other new teams," he said in Malaysia.
