F1: Renault targets 2011

1-2-2010

by Geneviève Trudeau Senécal

The Renault F1 Team targets year 2011 as the one when it will be back on top according to Bob Bell.

The team's acting principal says that after a very long 2009 season, that included the famous crash-scandal and the departure of team director Flavio Briatore, Renault plans to "build for 2011 and a championship campaign."

"We are not going to produce a car that catapults us to the front because F1 is very competitive. But our 2010 expectations are to run towards the front and challenge for the top three," Bell told autosport.

The future of the team was secured by Gerard Lopez's Genii Capital purchase of a large stake of the team late in 2009.

The news brought confidence within the shop, ensuring all staff members that they would not lose their job in a near future.
