F1: Sebastian Vettel sets fastest time in Jerez before the rain

9-18-2008

by René Fagnan , Auto123.com

German driver Sebastian Vettel set today the fastest time in the 3rd day of testing at Jerez, Spain. Rain started shortly after lunch, and the teams decided to top testing.

Team Williams ran a 2009-spec rear wing.

The young Toro Rosso driver was behind the wheel of the Renault-powered Red Bull.

Another German, Nick Heidfeld, set the 2nd time of the day, driving for BMW-Sauber. Test driver Luca Di Grassi was impressive, taking 3rd place for Renault.

Takuma Sato drove for Toro Rosso in evaluation for a possible seat next season. The team was apparently pleased with the work he did, clearly demonstrating his previous experience in a grand prix car.
