F1 Barcelona: Mark Webber wins, Sebastian Vettel third

5-9-2010

by Geneviève Trudeau Senécal

Red Bull continued its domination in Spain by taking up two out of three spots on the podium Sunday, with victory for Mark Webber and third place finish for Sebastian Vettel.

Fernando Alonso invited himself to the party by securing a solid second place finish, thanks to McLaren's misfortune.

Michael Schumacher's fourth place will probably make him happy - and will hopefully stop the media flow of "good" and "not good" comments on his behalf.

His teammate Nico Rosberg, struggling this week-end in Spain and having to deal with the teams mistakes - an unsecured front tire cost him a lot of time during his first stop, finished only 13th Sunday.

Jenson Button can also be happy with his fifth place finish, although he  arguably "got stuck behind Schumacher" for most of the race, as his teammate did nothing better than 14th, behind Rosberg.

Hamilton, second with two laps to go in the race, saw his front left tire explode and was forced off track, giving Alonso second and Vettel third. He now stands in seventh place in the standings, 21 points behind the lead. He could have been in third place had the tire hold on for two more laps.

Felipe Massa, Adrian Sutil and Robert Kubica completed the top-eight of this fifth race of the 2010 season.
