F1: Jacques Villeneuve wants to return in Formula 1

7-9-2009

During a press conference held Thursday prior to his participation to a round of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at Autodrome St-Eustache, former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve talked about his possible comeback in Formula 1.

"I attended the Monaco and British Grands Prix recently and it is true that I talked with several team directors about the possibility of returning in Formula 1 as a driver next year," Villeneuve admitted.

"There's going to be more teams next year, 13, so more chances to find a place. The talks were very positive. However, the medias went into overdrive and started speculating. The fact is that no one knows what's going to happen in F1 next year. No one wants to move until the political situation becomes more stable," he added.

"I am working hard to return into Formula 1. True. There will be several interesting challenges next season such as less electronics, starting the race on full a tank, and fun cars will to drive. The work of the driver and his engineer will become more important as it was the case in the 90s."

So what are the chances to see Villeneuve in a Formula 1 car next year? "Slim, very slim I admit," said Jacques.
