The first Formula 1 winter test session was held today, Monday at Circuit de Catalunya located near Barcelona, Spain. It was the first occasion to see what the 2009 cars will look like.

Nico Hulkenberg's Williams shod on slick tires.

However, it is virtually impossible to draw any conclusions for the lap times set today because cars ran in different trims.

Some cars were shod on 2008 treaded tires while other ran the new 2009 slicks. Some cars were fitted with the 2009-spec aerodynamics and other carried the infamous KERS system. As for the tires, Bridgestone brought its two hardest 2009 slicks.

The two Ferrari-powered Toro Rossos, driven by Takuma Sato and Sébastien Buemi set the two fastest times of the day on slick tires. Austrian Alex Wurz set the 3rd fastest time in the Honda, finishing ahead of the McLaren-Mercedes of Pedro de la Rosa.
