Ford's Sync, an innovative system prized by the AJAC and the Charter of the French language! (video)

4-4-2008

by Mathieu Lapointe , Auto123.com

If you plan on buying a Sync-equipped car or truck, make sure it's compatible with your own cell phone beforehand, because some might not work even though they feature Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, among all cell phone models tested by Ford, only 8 can send and receive text messages. For the complete list of Sync-compatible cell phones, go to syncmyride.com.

Jonathan Herbert -- Assistant Director of SYNC and Commercial Vehicle Marketing

Since the technology was developed by Microsoft for Ford, the blue-oval automaker owns the exclusive rights to Sync until November 2008. Later, other manufacturers will be able to offer the system, although the "Sync" name will remain a property of Ford and any future upgrade will first be exclusively offered by Ford, allowing it to remain constantly one step ahead of the competition.
