Gretzky introduces the Flex!

6-4-2008

by Luc Gagné , Auto123.com

Over 50 years of building cars
Operating since 1953, the Oakville assembly plant encompasses 486,000 square meters (5.4 million square feet). Over 3,800 workers are employed by Ford and about 500 more will soon be added to meet the expected rising demand for the Flex.

Zorin Trbovic, Director of Final Assembly, accompanied journalists on a tour of the facility.

A host of products have been manufactured here in Oakville throughout these decades, such as the Meteor, Monarch and Frontenac (exclusively sold in Canada up until the early 1960s), not to mention more familiar cars like the Falcon and Maverick, the Tempo/Topaz duo and the Windstar minivan.
