In fact, for many years, the two series have gone head to head for drivers, teams, fans, sponsors and TV ratings, generally losing out on all counts, especially in light of the growing popularity of NASCAR.

Today, the best open-wheel drivers compete in the same series against each other.

The IndyCar series is extremely competitive. For example, the last race of the 2008 season was won by just one thousand of a second!

It is basically a one-make series, all competitors drive Dallara chassis powered by normally aspirated Honda V-8 engines and shod on Firestone slick tires.

The future of the IndyCar series looks brighter than ever before. The new set of technical rules, due to appear on 2010, will produce a better show while keeping the costs as low as possible.
