Andretti Green's Tony Kanaan won an eventful race yesterday at Richmond International Speedway, finally taking his first victory of the 2008 IRL IndyCar Series season.

The race, to which were added 50 laps, had a total of nine yellow flags and only 10 cars made it to the finish in one piece.

Kanaan, who started from the pole, led most of the race.

Penske's Helio Castroneves, who started 18th, was able to take second just in front of series leader Scott Dixon.

Ganassi teammate Dan Wheldon, whose car faltered - apparently out of fuel - at the final corner, finished fourth.
