Jaguar unveils supercat XKR-S at Geneva

by Auto123.com

Jaguar will unveil a performance model at the Geneva Motor Show this week that will write a new chapter in their history books. The XKR-S is a very light and very sexy coupe that packs a new level of technology put to work in the name of going really, really fast.

The quickest production XK to date, it promises high speed performance and excellent handling combined within a hand-crafted and luxurious package. Drivers can expect 0-60 to come up in just 5 seconds, and a top speed of 280 kph- making it the fastest Jaguar since the XJ220 supercar. The engine breathes out through an active exhaust system and gears are swapped by a six-speed automatic with sequential shifting courtesy of shift-paddles on the steering wheel.

A high performance braking system helps to harness the power, with Alcon R calipers clamping their 6-pistons down on 400 millimeter front brake discs. Jaguar has also installed a Computer Active Technology Suspension system (CATS) for a deep and strong grip on the road.

Exterior styling cues help the ultra-performance model stand apart from the standard car, with various interior upgrades and a high performance audio system working towards the same goal.

Only 200 of the XKR-S model will be produced, all of which will be sold in Europe.
