Nelson Piquet Jr. will take part in the Superkarts USA Super Nationals in Las Vegas next week-end competing against drivers like Michael Schumacher.

It will be a first race appearance for the young driver since the end of his Formula 1 career at Renault earlier this year.

Schumacher and Sebastian Buemi have also confirmed their participation to the event in the SuperPro KZ2 category for 125cc machines.

Piquet was invited to the event by the Intrepid team after the driver went to visit the factory in Italy following the Monaco Kart Cup in which the team supplied karts.

“Karting is one of my favourite types of racing and I'm so looking forward to driving one of the fastest karts around in this race,” said Piquet to crash.net.
