Kovalainen's lucky escape in Spain

It was a weekend filled with excitement and action in motorsport. It all started when Heikki Kovalainen crashed hard during the Grand Prix of Spain.

The McLaren-Mercedes went straight into the tire barrier at high speed. The Finn was caught underneath the tires. Despite the force of the impact, Kovalainen was luckily not injured but suffered from a concussion.


Elsewhere, Patrick Carpentier finished 8th in the NASCAR Nationwide race in Talledega, and then claimed 31st in the Sprint Cup race.

Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Focus RS) claimed victory a the WRC Jordan Rally after he passed Dani Sordo in the final stages of the event.

Finally, the Peugeot 908 HDI of Stéphane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy took victory at the Monza 1000km Le Mans Series event after colliding with the leading Audi R10...
