Mercedes-Benz dealer helps break new ground for Kingston dealership

In Kingston, Ontario, the van Herpt family name is synonymous with the Mercedes-Benz customer experience. Earlier this week, dealer principal Al Van Herpt joined Mercedes-Benz Canada President Marcus Mreitschwerdt to break ground for a new standalone dealership in one of the busiest areas of the city.

Having run a family-operated dealership since 1954, Al van Herpt first took over the Mercedes-Benz brand in 1993. At the time, his family sold Mercedes vehicles alongside another brand. Fifteen years later, three generations of the same family will partake in the day-to-day operations of the new facility, located at 1432 Bath Road.

The new dealership will house the Mercedes-Benz and smart brands under an 11,000 square foot roof. The impressive new building will meet the company's building standards- showcasing a well-established and modern look while joining many similar dealerships around the world.

Breitschwerdt commented on the Van Herpt's contributions to advancing sales of the Mercedes-Benz brands. "The excitement level was high today as we helped Al van Herpt and his son, Sales Manager Ed van Herpt's turn over the first few shovels of dirt on the site of the new facility. Both Al and Ed have recognized the current and future growth of our Mercedes-Benz and smart brands and have great plans to further develop them in the Kingston market. This new facility is a true commitment to their existing and future customers; it will allow them to offer unparalleled service and make a lot more room for our impressive product line-up, now and tomorrow."

The new facility will open in November.
