NAPA 200: F1600 back on track at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve

7-10-2009

by Geneviève Trudeau Senécal

The Formula Tour Championship will make a return to the famous Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit on the last week-end of August 2009.

The series will be, along with the Rolex Grand-Am Series and the NASCAR Canadian Tire series, one of the "other" series on track during the NAPA Auto Parts 200 NASCAR week-end.

The Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit once was a regular stop for the F1600 drivers. With the disappearance of Montreal's F1 and Champ Car races however, the Napa Auto Parts 200 is this year the only chance the series had to renew its successful alliance.

Driver and sports commentator Didier Schraenen said he is excited about this announce and promises a great battle on Sunday morning as the F1600 will open the track for an entire day of racing at Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Organisers of the main event were also happy of this addition, meaning there will be both prototypes cars (Rolex Grand-Am), stock cars (NASCAR Nationwide and Canadian Tire) and open-wheelers (F1600) on track on August 29th and 30th.
