NASCAR: Carl Edwards & Brad Keselowski both accept NASCAR ruling without complaint

3-11-2010

by Lewis Franck

While popular opinion regarding NASCAR’s ruling that Carl Edwards’ penalty, for intentionally turning into Brad Keselowski, causing Keselowski’s car to get airborne, would be probation for three races ranged in all directions, the participants, themselves, are somewhat accepting.

On Carl Edwards’ Facebook page it says “I respect NASCAR's penalty and look forward to our meeting in Bristol. I'm ready to put this behind us and get on with some good racing.”

Edwards was referring to a statement by NASCAR president, Mike Helton, that both his Roush Fenway Racing team principals, and Keselowski’s Penske Racing officials would meet, at the next race, Bristol Motor Speedway, to work out any remaining issues.

Keselowski responded, in a team statement “"I support NASCAR in the decision they communicated today. They are not in an enviable position when it comes to these matters, but they do an outstanding job. The unfortunate part about what happened on Sunday is that it has overshadowed a win by the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge and an overall solid performance by Penske Racing at Atlanta. Hopefully we can move past this and get ready for Bristol. It is a track where Penske Racing has had a lot of success in the past. I feel 100% and I am looking forward to getting back to competition."

And, on Wednesday afternoon Jack Roush issued his own statement “
“We are satisfied that NASCAR fairly considered all the circumstances in its decision to discipline Carl (Edwards). We look forward to meeting with NASCAR, Roger (Penske) and Brad (Keselowski) in Bristol next weekend and it is our hope to put this behind us at that time. Missed in all of this was a really strong performance by Roush Fenway - and the Ford teams in general - at Atlanta last weekend and we are eager to continue to build on that moving forward.”
