by Éric Descarries

Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) was the fastest this Friday afternoon at the Bristol Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Sharpie 500 Sprint Cup race to be run Saturday evening at the half-mile track.

Coming in second was David Reutimann (Camry No 44) followed by Jeff Gordon (Chevy No 24).

As for Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10), for once, he did not qualify as he ran the 38th fastest time on the track but had to let drivers with guaranteed positions including Dale Earnhardt Jr (Chevy No 88) bump him off.
