Honda announced at the beginning of October that it will acquire the remaining 55% of the BAR Honda shares from British American Tobacco, making it a 100% Honda F1 team by the end of 2005.

As a major car manufacturer, Honda is involved in Formula One to demonstrate its technical ability, in order to impress the public and eventually sell more cars. However, the latest technical changes suggested the FIA do not go in the direction of a high-tech Formula One that the major car manufacturers like Honda want to maintain.

Speaking at the Global Motorsports Congress in Frankfurt, BAR-Honda's Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry took the time to explain his view on the future of Formula One. His perspective includes innovative solutions to keep Formula One at the top of the motorsport ladder.

"Clearly, we have to respect safety," mentioned Fry to Reuters. "It's very difficult to understand sitting outside just how brutal the cars are. On the other hand, the important point is the application of technology. Companies like Michelin, Honda, BMW, Mercedes are in this for development of technology."

"If technology was taken away, if it was a much lower tech formula, I think the interest of F1 to Honda, BMW, Mercedes and companies, technological partners and indeed many of the sponsors would be reduced significantly," revealed Fry.
