by Auto123.com

Audi has S-Line, BMW has M-Sport and now Swedish automaker Volvo has R-Design. Catering to customers who want their vehicles to stand out above and beyond the standard models, a soon-available R-Design package will be specifically tailored to the C30, S40, V50 and XC90 vehicles, featuring various visual upgrades inside and out.

R-Design badging will be applied to the grille, while other exterior features include color-coordinated bumpers and moldings, a spoiler and matte-finish mirror caps. Five-spoke aluminum wheels are included as well- in 17 to 20 inch sizes depending on the model selected.

Inside, R-Design buyers will be treated to seats of contrasting color, comprised of the unique Vulcaflex fabric and cream colored leather. The seats will be embossed with the R-Design logo on the backrest in contrasting-colored stitching to emphasize their sporty appearance.

Other interior upgrades include specific instrument clusters, aluminum centre-stack and door inlays, and metal-finished pedals.

"The possibility of tailoring one's car to suit personal tastes is becoming increasingly important to car buyers today," said Gerry Keaney, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo."R-Design has been developed for buyers who want a refined and sporty look for their cars."

Pricing will be announced closer to the packages availability later this year for 2009 models.
