Norwegian Petter Solberg has ended weeks of speculation by confirming he will drive a Citroen C4 WRC on the two final events of the 2009 World Rally Championship, although he has yet to make a decision about what to drive in the 2010 season.

In recent months, the 2003 world champion had been increasingly frustrated at his inability to challenge for wins in his 2006 specification Citroen Xsara WRC, and after Rally Finland decided it was time to upgrade to a newer car.

Solberg chose not to contest Rally Australia and instead tested a 2007 specification Citroen C4 WRC in France two weeks ago and a Ford Focus RS WRC in the UK on Wednesday this week.

After weighing up his options he announced today that he would be sticking with Citroen for the rest of the season. He will drive a 2008 specification C4 WRC with adjustments he says make it close to the model currently driven by factory drivers Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo.

Solberg's first rally with his Citroen C4 will be the asphalt Rallye de Espana, which starts on 2 October.
