2002 Jaguar X-Type Road Test

10-17-2002

by Trevor Hofmann , Canadian Auto Press

The X2 sport package rids the X-Type of chrome trim, and replaces it with a mix of flat black and colour keyed accents. Seventeen-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, grey stained wood veneer and a rear deck spoiler complete the package.

In colder climates, the X3 package is a must due to its heated front seats, heated windscreen and washers for the headlamps - Jaguar's Dynamic Stability Control is optional with the X3 package.

Standard safety features include the usual ABS and dual front airbags plus front-seat side-impact airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags with high-tech occupancy sensors and a collapsible brake pedal mechanism.

The Jaguar X-Type incorporates Olympian poise and performance, dinner club elegance and exclusivity, as well as state of the art electronics and safety features. What is most important is how different it is when compared to its rivals. While some will complain, just as many will laud the newcomer for its unique identity.
