2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan Road Test

7-15-2003

by Alexandra Straub , Canadian Auto Press

In addition to the brakes the WRX has some top-notch safety features. I know I would be devastated if my car stereo, or car, was ripped off, can you relate? To combat thieves Subaru has pre-wired the WRX for an alarm, if you want to buy one aftermarket, or you can opt for an anti-theft security system under full warranty for a little extra change - smart money in my opinion.

The WRX is quick, sporty, fun, and a 4-door sedan, perfect for those with families who still want a little zip in their car. (Photo: Shawn Pisio, Canadian Auto Press)
The car also includes dual driver and front passenger airbags standard, along with dual front seat side-impact airbags with head and chest protection. Parents will appreciate the child safety rear door locking system and rear seat ISO-FIX/LATCH anchor system for attaching the car seat. So yes, the functional Impreza WRX is more than just fun. It's also built for families who want a little zing in their lives. If your kids are older there is adequate space in the back seat to fit three medium-sized bodies comfortably. For tall people there isn't much head clearance, but after all the WRX is classified as a compact, and compact it is.

I had a fabulous time in the WRX, but as a starving student it might not fit my anemic budget. But then again as soon as I am out of school, and then out of debt, the WRX sedan would be high on my "cars to invest in" list. It's outrageously fun and wonderfully functional. Of course I'd want mine in World Rally Blue, the Subaru rally team's signature color, as it best represents this particular car.

In the end one thing still perplexes me. If I had this much fun in the Impreza WRX, I can't even imagine what the 300-hp WRX STi will be like. I guess you'll just have to wait for my thoughts on the subject, or maybe not. They probably won't be fit for public consumption.
