We attain 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and we need 5.6 seconds to perform 80 to 120 km/h passing times, if we keep the transmission in automatic mode; if we use the electronic sequential mode and leave it in 3rd gear, a second can be shaved off that time.
Braking and safetyPerforming our braking tests, we needed less than 40 meters to immobilize this 2,025 kg mass from 100 km/h to 0. glued to the seat; the system detected a potential impact situation and prepared us for it. It's very impressive and reassuring.
On the roadThe S-Class happens to be a superb highway cruiser; it sticks to the road. On back roads, in tight turns, the car lifts, then lays down and glues itself to the asphalt; this reaction is a little worrisome, although the end result is good. You have to get used to this to become confident in this type of situation. The car reminds us that its mission isn't a sporty one, but that of a luxury sedan.
