2008 Honda CBF1000A Preview

The transmission boasts wide gear ratios, again for smoother accelerations. However, Honda promises riders all the performance they need for spirited maneuvers. The frame, which uses a single rectangular steel beam, features a non-adjustable 41-mm traditional front fork and a Pro-Link rear shock with compression adjustment. The seat is nicely padded and ideally shaped while also integrating support handles for the passenger. A convenient center stand helps make parking and loading easier.

Ergonomics: a strength
The CBF1000 is optionally available with a passenger seatback. Furthermore, the instrument panel is very comprehensive: in addition to the usual stuff (analog speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge plus many indicators), there are also warning lights for the engine immobilizer, ABS brakes and electronic fuel injection system. The riding position is almost perfect, which reduces stress on your arms and wrists. It's also leaning forward just enough to allow the rider to attack twists and turns with authority. Visibility is good; you can easily anticipate obstacles and admire the landscape.

The styling of the CBF1000 remains very conservative while the exhaust note has been considerably refined. Front and rear turn signals are exemplary; they're integrated to the fairing for a well-executed modern look.

Honda is finally offering a versatile large-displacement motorcycle capable of taking on the segment's best. The VFR800 is no longer alone to represent Honda thanks to this valuable ally.
