2008 Audi TT Roadster 3.2 Review

5-30-2008

by Marc Bouchard , Auto123.com

If you were offered the opportunity to hit the road with Audi's new TT Roadster, would you hesitate? I certainly wouldn't! That's what I did during a typically cold Canadian spring week.

Larger than its predecessor, the new TT definitely has more flair and more visual bite, especially the Roadster.

I'm not a masochist -- only a true driving enthusiast. The TT, especially the latest generation, offers a unique driving experience one cannot afford to miss, regardless of road and weather conditions.

Okay, now I'll admit it: I've always been a huge fan of this Audi.

Gorgeous styling
The previous design was already a success, but the improvements made to the new model add more purpose and sharpness to the package. Still inspired by the Bauhaus design school (pre-WWII), the TT also dropped a few trivial details. The round edges have been replaced by sleeker lines and angles, creating a more streamlined body.

Audi's new corporate grille dominates the front end, while the new rectangular taillights are Bauhaus trademarks. Larger than its predecessor, the new TT definitely has more flair and more visual bite, especially the Roadster.

A wonderful place to live in
Oddly enough, the interior proves to be friendlier than ever before. Of course, it's also roomier, making occupants feel a bit less squeezed. The top folds away in a span of a few seconds at the push of a button for that unique open-air feeling.

Life inside the Audi TT Roadster is quite pleasant. The controls are ergonomically designed and laid out. While I had to get used to the climate control system, the stereo was no problem for me. The instruments are also more modern-looking and easier to read than before.

The seats are extremely comfortable and supportive and the driving position is simply ideal.
