Unique clutch The BMW G 450X uses a 5-speed transmission to make the most out of the engine's powerband. The primary clutch is mounted directly above the crankshaft, which reduces the number of parts and the overall weight. In addition, this innovative positioning minimizes the amount of torque the clutch has to handle compared to a traditional, driveshaft-mounted clutch system.
The unique clutch and swingarm design optimizes frame tubing, thus offering exceptional structural rigidity without increasing the bike's weight. Engineers were also able to connect the swingarm axle to the steering column for even more rigidity. The rear frame section is made of aluminum, while the rest is made of traditional materials.
As for the suspension, a fully-adjustable, Marzocchi upside-down fork with 300 millimeters of travel and a fully-adjustable Öhlins rear monoshock deliver maximum ground contact at all speeds.
Pure adrenaline On the braking front, the G 450X benefits from a Brembo dual-piston floating brake system featuring a 260-mm front disc and a 220-mm rear disc. According to BMW engineers, this system has been specifically designed to offer precise control and feel for aggressive riding on all types of terrain.
The G 450X boasts a familiar BMW design with dynamic Euro-style lines and a half front mudguard. Adrenaline starts flowing through your veins just by looking at it. BMW is fully committed to taking on one of the most demanding disciplines in all of motorsports. With the all-new 2008 G 450X, the manufacturer wants to set new benchmarks in the blooming yet well-established enduro and dual-purpose segment. This latest machine boggles the mind with a unique styling and technical specifications which strike fear into competitors.
