2008 Chrysler Town & Country Limited Road Test

1-30-2008

by Michel Deslauriers , Auto123.com

However, the table surface isn't big enough for 4 people, especially when the extra large pizza gets delivered. Legroom under the table is pretty tight, which made us uncomfortable during our poker game. And when it's time to remove the table in winter, the aluminum post is so cold that I lost my bet with my colleagues; my tongue stayed stuck on it.

The maximum cargo capacity of the Town & Country is 4072 liters, which is enormous.

With the Swivel n' Go, the 2nd-row seats cannot disappear into the floor. The rear bench's cushion is too inclined backwards, and we have to curve our backs to use the table.

In short, my family and I rarely need to sit around a table inside a vehicle. I rather see myself using the Stow n' Go a lot, since that fold-away system is much more practical than the Swivel n' Go 365 days a year. Still, we should give credit to Chrysler for trying to innovate.

Competition
The Town & Country Limited has a base price of $42,895, and my test vehicle included the $625 Flexible Seating Group (Swivel n' Go) as well as the $650 power-folding 3rd-row seat. The total invoice comes to $44,170.

In comparison, the Toyota Sienna XLE Limited AWD sells for $51,620, Nissan sells its Quest 3.5 SE for $46,998 and Honda offers its Odyssey Limited for $48,890.

Kia also has a luxury version of its minivan, the $38,195 Sedona EX Luxury, and Hyundai will swap $39,495 for an Entourage Limited, although these two are rivals to the Town & Country Touring model, which starts out at $35,995.

Conclusion
Chrysler's Town & Country took a giant leap forward in terms of refinement and elegance. It looks good, it's powerful, comfortable and easy to drive. Its price is high, but it's well-equipped and costs less than its rivals.

I really like this minivan, even if I look like a has-been behind the wheel of it instead of in an SUV. It's an excellent effort from Chrysler, even if this time around, they didn't reinvent the minivan like they usually do.
