Supermoto bikes, a hybrid based on off-road bike but featuring lowered suspension, bigger brakes and street tires while keeping the light weight and performance of the donor models, are all the rage these days of performance and flexibility in a bike - we want it all!
Kawasaki has heard the call and responds with the new 2009 KLX250SE, based on the current KLX250 platform, but equipped with 17-inch wheels, radial sportbike tires, a big front brake rotor, and lowered suspension.
An obvious barrel of fun in city driving, the SF is claimed by the manufacturer to be suited to "race track use", and it would certainly be fun to ride on a Track Day, especially on tight tracks such as the Nelson course at Shannonville or the training track at Mosport in Ontario, Shubenacadie in Nova Scotia, St-Eustache, St-Croix or Mécaglisse in Quebec, as well as some of the smaller tracks out West. And do not forget big Kart track or a frozen lake. Change to off-road tires and you can also play on smooth dirt roads.
That is a lot of bike for just over 6 grand!
