2009 Porsche Cayman Review

9-29-2009

by Mathieu St-Pierre , Auto123.com

The mid-rear positioning of the motor allows for perfect weight distribution which in turn limits annoying weight transfers side to side and front to back. Forward and rearward visibility is decent. The rear ¾ view is troublesome especially in traffic on the Decarie expressway when changing lanes for example.

With a base price of « only » $65,300, the Cayman is nearly $5,000 cheaper than an M3 Sedan.

Can you really love a car?

I can. I love the Cayman. This is so true that the car I tested is the last I would even consider in the Cayman line-up but I'm still enamoured by it. Often times, testing the wrong version of a given car is enough to turn me off completely. Not so with the Cayman.

With a base price of « only » $65,300, the Cayman is nearly $5,000 cheaper than an M3 Sedan and believe me you, even though the Porsche suffers, if you will, from a 65 hp deficit, it will easily keep up if not out-corner the Bimmer plus it outlast the M3 mechanically after a season of track events.

Make mine a Carrara White S 6-speed with the 19 inch Sport Design wheels and Sea Blue interior to go!
