The Ford Mustang GT has only 315 horsepower but needs just a half-second more to reach 100 km/h, and costs $37,499. As for the Dodge Challenger R/T, it boasts 375 horsepower and starts at $35,395.

We like the Camaro SS, but maybe we were expecting a little more. That’s what happens when a company creates a hype around a car for 3 years before it hits the showroom floor; don’t forget, the concept was presented at the Detroit auto show way back in 2006.

The Camaro 1SS has a base price of $37,065, but our leather-lined 2SS costs $41,430.

Performance-wise, the car has little to fault. We think GM could’ve put a little more effort in the cockpit’s design and quality, and outward visibility isn’t very good, which makes us feel claustrophobic. It may seem like wimpy arguments in a 400-hp musclecar, but these are shortcomings that we don’t notice with its rivals.

We don’t say this about a car very often, but the Camaro may be a little too polite and civilized. The Challenger’s character feels a lot closer to its predecessor’s than the Chevy does.

If looks could kill, we’d be dead. We like the Camaro’s lethal stare and stunning sheetmetal as well as performance of the SS model. But we must warn you; take the car for a ride before signing the sales contract, just to make sure you’re comfortable behind the wheel.
