Competition
The Kia Soul has a base price of $15,495, but that’s for a base model with the 1.6-litre engine and 5-speed manual. The most popular choice will probably be the Soul 4u, which comes nicely equipped for $19,995. This 4u Burner model with the automatic costs $22,195.
The Soul must compete with the following cute-utes and tall wagons:
Jeep Compass, 158 or 172 hp, from $18,395
Nissan cube, 122 hp, from $16,998
Pontiac Vibe, 132 or 158 hp, from $16,830
Scion xB, 158 hp (not yet available in Canada, $16,420 in USA)
Suzuki SX4 Hatchback, 142 hp, from $17,395
Toyota Matrix, 132 or 158 hp, from $16,330

The Soul is a cool vehicule and is very well equipped for the asking price. |
Conclusion
The Soul is a cool vehicle, and it offers lots of space for passengers and has an excellent sound system. It’s very easy to live with despite a few shortcomings, and is very well equipped for the asking price.
We’re not sure people seek to express their personality with a $20,000 vehicle, though; that’s what Harleys, luxury cars and Facebook are for. My soul: “Would you sell me for a Soul?” Well, as much as I like this cute-ute, no I wouldn’t.
