2010 Suzuki Kizashi Preview

10-15-2009

by Michel Deslauriers , Auto123.com

The Kizashi will be front-wheel drive in base form, but an all-wheel drive setup will be offered as an option on CVT-equipped models. However,  every Kizashi sold in Canada will be equipped with AWD.

Mandatory features

In order to be competitive, the Kizashi must be equipped with the latest gadgetry and mechanical goodies inside and out. On the options list, Suzuki will be offering heated leather seats with power adjustments and memory setting, a power sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth streaming audio, a 425-watt Rockford Fosgate sound system and 18-inch wheels.

Standard in every Kizashi will be eight airbags, electronic stability control, 4-wheel disc brakes, keyless entry and start, Homelink, dual-zone front temperature control as well as USB/iPod connectivity.

The battle
Suzuki bills its new model a sport sedan, as its handling development is said to have been performed on the Nürburgring, and a claim we’ll definitely have to validate when we drive it. The Kizashi will be built in Japan.

The 2010 Suzuki Kizashi will likely confront several sport-oriented sedans in mid-size segment: Mazda6, Volkswagen Passat, Acura TSX, Nissan Altima and Subaru Legacy. Pricing has not yet been announced, but we’ll guesstimate a range between $27,000 and $30,000.

Look for Suzuki’s new sedan in showrooms before Christmas.
