Kevin "Crash" Corrigan:Oh Yeah! Youngsters and their dreams!!!
Seriously though, if I did well, it was because I was driven by sheer determination and outright intimidation.
When you glance in your rearview mirror and see an SRT8 bearing down on you at full bore, and Justin's smile is wider than the vehicles grille, you start to wish that you'd brought a second pair of trousers along!
I was just lucky that I was in such an amazing machine. Honestly, there's no word in the English language which can adequately describe what the Speed 3 feels like on the track. Mazda's famous Zoom Zoom phrase just doesn't do the vehicle justice. I see it more like "Zoom Zoom, Wallop Kazoo"!!!
The torque which the Speed 3 has is incredible, on a tight track like that; you hardly have to change gear at all. The car is just phenomenal, full stop. On one particular corner, I was literally shouting to myself "I have to have one of these", and at the price Mazda sells it for...I could actually afford it!
Mind you, I was still somewhat envious of Lesley, as she was driving the MX5, and I love that little machine for its roadster handling. She certainly showed Justin and I how the MX5 should be driven, and from now on, her Auto123 handle is... "Lovely Lady Lesley Led-foot"!
I have to say that Ian Law and his team of instructors were amazing, and I too came away vowing to return again.
So Justin, keep dreaming mate, because experience comes with age, and you're never going to catch up with me on that one either!!!
