Giancarlo Fisichella has admitted that a race seat at Sauber next year is a possibility.
After a more than thirteen year career in formula one and 231 grands prix, the 36-year-old Roman has been signed to be Ferrari's reserve driver in 2010.
But his contract leaves the door open for a parallel race seat, and because of Sauber's deal to race a Ferrari engine and powertrain next year, Fisichella has been mentioned for a role.
After two mostly disappointing seasons with Jordan in 2002 and 2003, Fisichella switched to Hinwil based Sauber in 2004 and thereafter launched his career's most successful tenure with a subsequent move to Renault.
"First of all I'm happy that they (Sauber) can participate in the championship and I would like to be able to collaborate with a team I know and I got on very well with them: together with Ferrari we'll see if that will be possible," he said at the Bologna motor show.
